Interests

Accessibility of the web

“The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect.”, Tim Berners-Lee.

Providing the same opportunities to every individual, regardless of their condition, their means and their context. That is one of the core believes that drives me every single day. Ensuring throughout the production process that a website is fast, responsive, progressive and inclusive is the best way to build a future-proof website that people, with disabilities or not, will enjoy using. Accessibility isn't about disabled people, it is about people, no matter their condition or context, it is the idea of building a World Wide Web for everyone.

Building for the many

The Internet is versatile. It can be browsed using many devices such as a mobile phone, a tablet, a laptop, a telly and even a speaker. Users can interact with websites using a broad range of softwares including a browser, a screen reader, a touch screen, a mouse, a keyboard, an audio assistant, etc. It may experienced comfortably at home or in the rush of public transportation, and lucky are the ones who enjoy a fast internet connection.

There is a broad range of variables that impact the way users experience websites, therefore it is important to take into consideration those criteria in order to broaden the reach of the brand and improve the overall consumption experience. To do so, frameworks such as progressive enhancement will allow developers to think about context and tools first, delivering only the functionalities that suit the browsers of the audience and thus ensuring everyone has an optimal access to the provided online content.

Sharing knowledge

It is common knowledge that the best way to learn is by teaching. And what a better way to learn something new than helping someone while doing so? That is why I decided to give away some of my time, whenever possible, to help out my surrounding and charities that help students from minorities to learn and get a first foot in the tech industry. I recently joined the initiative codebar.io as a coach to participate in my own way. Interested into joining us? Feel free to reach out!

Never stop joking

Life is too short not to be spent making fun of everything.
